The 12-year-old girl who was shot in the head by a stray bullet during Christmas has been discharged from the hospital. She had been hospitalized since December 25 in the town of Villa Sarmiento, Buenos Aires province. According to the Argentine News Agency, the girl's uncle confirmed her discharge in a television interview. He had previously stated that medical professionals were waiting for a positive response to stimuli and for the swelling in her skull to subside. Although the most critical part of the ordeal is over and the girl can return home, she will need to undergo a series of check-ups to monitor her health in the future. The incident occurred when the girl was watching fireworks on the sidewalk at her grandparents' house. She was immediately taken to the La Trinidad clinic in Ramos Mejia. Medical professionals performed a scan and determined the bullet was likely 9mm or 40mm in caliber and was located in the posterior cranial fossa. During her hospitalization, the girl's parents remained by her side while she was fed intravenously. Doctors decided to leave the projectile in her body to avoid greater risks.
